All that is left

Lyn has spent most of his life breaking stone in Vale Ridge, earning barely enough to eat while stronger people decide who receives wealth, safety, and freedom.

His parents left him three low-ranked Heavenly Shards, but no clan, inheritance, or powerful name to protect him. They are the only things of value he possesses.

Lyn is not foolish enough to believe that cultivation alone decides who stands above whom. Dao Chosen can be deceived, exploited, or killed, while even the rootless can rise if they are patient, prepared, and clever enough to recognize an opportunity before anyone else. Power opens doors, but intelligence determines who survives after stepping through them.

Lyn has also carried several abnormalities for as long as he can remember. Deadly weather passes over him without harm. Materials enter his Vessel Realm even when he lacks the required Truth Carvings. Parts of his existence refuse to obey laws that bind everyone else.

Then the heavens turn gold, time stops, and an unknown symbol forces its way into his Vessel Realm.

His inner Sea is destroyed and replaced by a golden expanse reflecting distant galaxies. Above it hangs a solitary star whose nature even his information Shard cannot examine without breaking apart.

Lyn does not know what the star is, why it appeared inside him, or what will happen if anyone discovers it. He only knows that it is changing what should be possible, and that every answer lies somewhere beyond the life of an insignificant miner.

To find those answers, Lyn must enter a world of sects, clans, ancient powers, deadly blockades, and ordinary people who have survived beneath them through cunning of their own.

He has no intention of remaining ordinary.

Lyn does not seek immortality for glory, nor does he intend to kneel beneath Heaven forever. What he wants is the one thing neither strength nor birth has ever guaranteed: the freedom to exist without permission.

And if only a god can possess that freedom, then a god is what he will become.
