Wash After Reading

Laura is pregnant when the outbreak begins.
At first, life continues much as it always has. People still go to work. Stores still open their doors. The routines of ordinary life remain intact, even as the world beyond them starts to change.
Then her husband leaves for work and never comes home.
As the outbreak spreads, Laura finds herself facing the crisis alone. Her parents stop answering the phone. The world beyond her front door grows smaller and less recognizable by the day.
So she adapts.
One rule becomes two. Two become ten. Shoes stay by the door. Outside clothes stay separate. Every object has a place. Every risk has a solution.
As she becomes increasingly isolated, Laura clings to the systems that have kept her safe so far. But as the world outside continues to deteriorate, strange cracks begin to appear in the reality around her. Familiar places no longer seem quite right. The boundaries of reality begin to blur.
