A Flame Worth Keeping
Synopsis
In the city of Enkai, the fire you can't see costs the most.
Ryo Kisaragi has spent seven years chasing the disappearance of his older brother, one lead & one dead end at a time. Then a body turns up in Haiiro-ku, staged as an accident, with a fragment of his brother's engraved lighter beside it. Ryo isn't supposed to be able to read what's left behind at a scene like that. He can anyway.
What he uncovers is a world hidden beneath his own city: an underground network sheltering people born with abilities they were never allowed to register, a government arm built to erase anyone who slips through its cracks, and a fanatical faction convinced that somewhere out there, a single person holds the key to a power that has cost every one of them something irreplaceable to use.
Every ability has a price. The rarest kind costs a memory, no take-backs. Ryo has one, and no one taught him how to use it.
As his search for the truth about his brother pulls in the one friend who's always seen through his lies, Ryo has to decide how much of himself he's willing to spend to keep the people he loves alive and whether some flames are worth keeping lit, no matter what they cost.
