Till death do us part

This is a tale, about a man, who faced great misfortune, a loving wife, a stable job. Everything was great. However the man who loved his wife deeply, overworked. He made up the pretence that he needed to work his hardest, to provide yet. The more he worked, the more impatient became the wife, He who would barely provide time for her though he was doing it all right, and yet there she went, having felt left behind, alone. The man now broken,  never dated again, unable to live life the same after the misery he caused. with guilt on his conscious, life went on until 4 years later. The wife, who loved him deeply had found herself in another relationship, with a man who did everything Alex didn't, yet. Why, why did she not feel the same spark. Her thoughts drifting through her mind,  a vivid picture forming as she cleaned her room, when there it was, the hoodie he left behind, so many years ago. regret, pain. a deep feeling in her chest, as she dusted the hoodie. a small box dropped onto the floor, it opened by itself, revealing a small miniature ring, not a wedding one, rather a promise wring. her hands Shakey, as without thinking her phone buzzed with a long deleted phone number in her hand, frantically thinking for an excuse. a pretence formed, as she made an excuse to return the hoodie to him just to hear him once more, yet this time. The man was no longer the one she remember, His once youthful voice now full of hurt, regret and guilt. monotone and cold as he replied, telling her firmly to forget the past and the memories they shared, and too focus on her current lover interest and soon to be husband, Matthew. The phone beeped one last time, an end to their discussion, fast forward to the mans deathbed, now 50 suffering from a serious terminal illness which he hid from her for several centuries, he Shakely asks for a visit from her, he reveals every mistake, every regret and the fearful words he never wanted to utter to her about his condition, the woman, mortified. held his hand on last time, as he passed away one last time in her hand. Only to have found himself in a completely different world. One in which Magic, class, race and Old ideals resurfaced. A fantasy world, the ones he always indulged in to take away himself from reality, and yet here he is. His second chance at life. One in which he promised himself in the moment to not waste.
