Synopsis

He was sent to still her. She taught him to feel. Feeling is the crime that will cost one of them everything.

Castan is one of the enforcers who does the stilling. He is very good at it. The only way to be good at it is to never finish the question that rises in him each time.

Then he is handed a cell to break, and at its centre a woman who commits the one crime the regime cannot forgive, she makes people want to be felt. He is sent to hunt her. He stays to be taught by her. And a Shear who begins to feel is the most dangerous thing in the city; to the regime, to the people he is meant to betray, and most of all to her.

A slow-burn, bittersweet love story about the cruelty of mercy and the cost of feeling, set fifteen years before the events of Resonance. Standalone, no prior reading required.
