Synopsis

The year is 30XX. Humanity has spread across the stars, continuing their ever-present quest for dominion and expansion. But amidst all of the extraterrestrial glory, a massive gravitational flux shakes the foundation of the universe and the human species to its very core.

A-372 is an engineered combat automaton that has been granted sentience through developments with artificial intelligence, neurological training models, and the necessity to preserve human life after the universe-spanning apocalyptic event. Classed as a Spectre-type Golem, he exists to serve in whatever capacity his makers require of him. After a harrowing combat campaign on the terraformed surface of Neptune, A-372 was given an impossible choice: to have his entire code wiped and live as a non-thinking, completely autonomous Golem or to enter into the service of peacekeeping and bounty hunting amongst the red sands of Mars.

Refusing to let go of the fragile existence he has in his current sentience, A-372 takes up the Martian appointment with self-preservation as the ultimate goal. But on a routine mission to capture two rogue Spectres, A-372 begins to unravel a thread that points to the origins of the universe as it is currently understood and the forces that shape it into being. To fully discover those elusive and dangerous secrets, he will find his artificial existence tensed and threatened in ways that ask the ultimate question: why does he continue to fight?

Marrying the concepts of a space opera with its different worlds, interplanetary battles, and plots of political intrigue along with a grimdark, used-future setting that leans into mythological and supernatural occurrences, ANOMALOUS is a tale of cosmological absolutes and the beings who are left to pick up the pieces in between them.
