A Life In Shards is a story about the burden of unexpected power, a desperate fight for survival, and the fragile hope of found family.

Ask her nothing, tell her nothing, were the orders given to those sent to rescue her.  But what have they rescued her from?

Cara finds herself engaged in a torturous game of trust with everyone, especially herself.  Even if she can return home, is she the same person she was when she left?

Reality as she knows it ends the morning Cara goes for a run in the park and lands in another world with nine shards of unknown origin and use.

No one cares that she arrives against her will.  No one cares that she wishes to return home.  No one cares for her beyond her ability to uncover what the shards can do and the advantages to be gained from their use.

Struggling to process her grief at a life cruelly ripped away, Cara must fast adapt to her new world, its people and their expectations of her.  As she befriends her small team of rescuers can she allow herself to trust that they are helping her or are they just manipulating her to expedite resolving the mystery of the shards?

If survival means losing all autonomy and sense of self, is it worth it?
