That was the System's first message to Earth. It gave humanity seven days to adapt. After that, it stopped asking.

Ethan Miller survived the first week. He has a class and a growing list of skills. He also has a problem no level can fix: his mother and sister are two thousand miles away, in Missouri, and he has no way to know if they made it through the first week too.

He isn't making the drive alone. Riding shotgun is Riley Tanner, a mechanic he meets along the way, whose class lets her fix things that shouldn't be fixable. Their third companion doesn't talk at all. The van is System-registered with its own upgrade tree, and it gets stronger through every repair and every fight it survives.

The miles fall away. The threats climb. And the closer they get to Missouri, the clearer it becomes that aberrations aren't the only thing organizing in the chaos.
