In a world where some manaweavers are so powerful they are known only as walking calamities, Aloric Sigast is thoroughly average.

An average student. An average fighter. An average manaweaver.

Or so he believes.

With graduation from the Mana Academy of Korsivir almost within reach, Aloric thinks he is finally ready for life as a manaweaver. Yet beyond the safety of Korsivir’s walls, where a single mistake can turn a routine mission into a desperate fight for survival, that belief will not last for long.

The continent is dangerous enough already, with treacherous rifts, mutated beasts, and yet another war looming on the horizon. But somewhere beyond those dangers, a threat far older and far worse is beginning to stir.

What no one knows—not even Aloric—is that hidden beneath his average talent is an ancient secret that could one day change the fate of the world.

But legends do not always begin with grand battles and glorious victories. Sometimes they start with a team of misfits trying not to die on their very first mission outside the walls.
