Wolf

A lone, wandering warrior in the lawless and unforgiving lands of the Kala Steppe meanders about the land as a pariah to everyone. He is a man without a land, culture, or people. He is to be forever cursed in these unforgiving lands. All he has is a shadow demon attached to him, his weapons, and a horse. He has no name except for a nickname that stuck with him since childhood: Wolf.

He is known as a Dark Walker, those who are demon touched and are forever cursed with the mark of the demons. All who encounter him shun him or runaway from him. He, like the now extinct wolves of the steppe, are hunted down and killed outright. There are other Dark Walkers that roam the land sporadically. However, there is less and less of them with each passing day. 

Tension brews between the two kingdoms surrounding the Kala Steppe. The Khanate of Jun to the East and the Empire of Van Lor to the West. The Kala steppe is a border region between both kingdoms. Those who dare to live out in the Steppe are either nomads, Dark Walkers, beasts, marauders, or demons. Some Dark Walkers have taken to becoming mercenaries due to there demonic abilities. Wolf is one of those mercenaries.

He is charged with a simple mission: rescue a princess that was allegedly abducted by Empire forces pretending to be Khanate guards that were attacked by a small army of marauders. He is to bring her back to Jun for she is the Great Khan's only daughter. 

However, nothing is ever simple. Wolf knows this. At the same time, he also does not care for the politics of it all. All he knows is that it will be an odyssey to conquer, but it's nothing new for him.

He struggles with maintaining a semblance of humanity whilst finding solace in his demon companion. Both he and his demon want a peaceful life, but know it is not to be. For they are the wolves of the Steppe. They were doomed to begin with. However, they both agree to defy fate and the gods by living free.
