Aberrant

Dead cultists were nothing new to the people of Ghlastir.  In fact, the country was practically built atop their bones.

Ghlastir enjoys an uneasy peace.  The Cults of many Gods worshipped throughout her lands are just powerful enough to keep each other in check without intervention from the Crown, but the Cult of Flame grows tired of their standing in the world and would like to change that.  After performing a deadly ritual, they may just get their wish, but the more powerful the ritual, the thinner the veil between the mortal plane and the demiplane become.

When an Aberrant, a creature of pure magic crafted in the dominion of the Gods, from the domain of the water Goddess appears off the shores of Salt Harbor, it threatens to rip the port town in two. As the only person to survive an encounter with the magical serpent stalking the bay, Theron Brim is of immediate interest to Orin Lapwing, the local Aberrant Hunter. 

But the serpent is just a symptom of a much larger problem simmering just beneath Ghlastir's surface.  If Theron wants to keep the country from falling back into a familiar turmoil, he'll need to figure out what the Cult of the Flame is planning while learning to become a Hunter himself.

Luckily for Theron, Hunters are renowned for their Slaid, a burst of magical power that they can channel through pure belief.  Unluckily for Theron, Orin turns up missing, prompting Theron to embark on a rescue mission that will take him all over Ghlastir, recruiting new allies and learning more about what, exactly, he is.

Thankfully, Theron always wanted to travel, and now he'll get his wish.

Ghlastir can be a beautiful country, but it's also deadly and full of hard decisions.
