Hero by Design: The Old God's Game [Intern to Hero Progression]
Synopsis
When you're trying to save the world, the last place you want to be is behind a desk.
Lunai’s planet is rotting. A parasitic weed has taken root in her jungle world, choking the life from every plant and person that call it home. The Galactic Security Agency has a solution, but to her people, it is blasphemy: scrap the world entirely and replace it with one that is stable but artificial, destroying every sacred root in the process. Lunai’s control over plant-matter may be the key to uprooting the weed without tearing everything apart; if she can master it.
Luckily, that very same blasphemous agency is in the business of training bright-eyed new superheroes with special abilities like hers.
Every hero starts as a bottom rung intern buried in bureaucratic violence. Lunai knows the work will be brutal, but her mentor assignment takes her by surprise: Bliss, the half-human prodigy and beloved face of the GSA. When the cameras are off, he is cold, cruel, and harbors secrets that threaten far more than Lunai’s career prospects. And why would the GSA's brilliant founder and CEO hide data on dying planets behind senior access levels?
Lunai joined the agency to save her world. She didn’t expect the biggest threats to be her mentor’s baggage and deadly office politics.
