The Strange Life of Bandzz
Synopsis
Yosef "Bandzz" Mbanza is a 20-year-old Battlemage living in La Cité des Chats, the oldest & most inhabited borough of Kébek City: La Ville aux Anomalies, the capital and one of the three main cities of L'État du Kébek.
417 years ago, an 83-year-old Spellcaster named Bohumír Franko Jaromír, otherwise known as "Le Roi Mage"—came, down from Lugdunum, a desolated village in Gaul under the guise of creating a new country for his people here in Kanata. It was only a century later that he managed to do so by isolating the entire province from the rest of the world with his World Magic. Had he not performed such an unimaginable feat, his demise would've been met while facing the impossibilities & abnormalities of the land he was standing upon.
As time passed, Kébekers developed a culture that would make it seem as if they lived in an entirely different timeline from the rest of humanity. Modern history claims that the man died 200 years prior to today's 6 000th year, but local legends, myths & Yosef himself will tell you the opposite.
It was June 4th 5 991. Bandzz was celebrating his 11th birthday in the presence of his best friends: RayLee Morales, Stan Islav & Stan's cousin, Shen Kölgelerniñ—alongside his parents, brothers, their associates and Ponga, their pet Storm Eagle. Everything was fine and peaceful, they were dancing and singing while enjoying meals made for the occasion, until suddenly, a giant ray of light came down crashing through the ceiling, destroying everything in their surroundings. Luckily, all the adults were quick to react and protect the kids, but sadly, none of them were strong enough to enact anything real. As they got out of the rubble, the attacker revealed himself to be "Le Roi Mage" himself and proposed to let everyone go in exchange for Yosef's life. Why him though? Why would a 491-year-old man even need a child's life for? It was that moment that changed his life forever, every single adult fought back against the legend so that he could run away and flee with his friends as far as possible, but none of them could actually do anything to him—he had somehow become immortal.
After hours of flying through the forests, Yosef crashed face-first into something that felt like a giant metallic boulder—but it was in fact an ancient beast most thought to be extinct: a Dragon. Believing it was finally his time to say goodbye, Bandzz accepted his fate and squared up against it, but the beast presented itself as Biely Had Svetla, a 100-year-old Starlight Dragon and said it pitied the kid—and wished to help him out of his misery if he helped him out of his own.
So in exchange for training him in ways most Focus Users could never fathom—combined with everything his family already engraved in him—Yosef had to find a way to expose the truth about the world they lived in. For that, he first had to get rid of the man who ruined his life, but was that even possible? What will Bandzz do while facing the impossible? And even if he managed to deal with that, what made him so sure that something like this would never happen again? Find out in The Strange Life of Bandzz...
