Descendants
Synopsis
High above an endless sea of thunder, countless floating islands — the Sky Kingdoms — drift through the heavens. Each is sustained by the power of ancient Aetherstones, crystals that bend gravity and channel pure magic. For generations, life in the sky has flourished, untouched by the chaos hidden beneath the roaring clouds known as the Stormveil — a place of lightning, mystery, and death.
But now, the Aetherstones are fading. The islands begin to tremble and fall into the storm below. The High Council of Elyndra, terrified that the entire Sky Kingdom may soon collapse, gathers its finest minds — scholars, mages, and inventors — to find a way to restore the world’s balance.
During their research, they unearth an ancient text buried beneath the capital. It tells of the "Heart of the Sky", a forgotten source of power that could rekindle the dying Aether. But the final passage reveals a forbidden truth: the answers lie beneath the Stormveil, in the lost world below the clouds.
With no other choice, the Council enacts a kingdom-wide decree: Every household must offer one family member to be trained as a "Descendant" — explorers chosen to brave the Stormveil, recover the Heart, and restore the skies.
In the quiet farming town of Brimwell, far from the capital’s shining towers, lives Kael Arven, a simple farm boy who guards his family’s herd of skybeasts — gentle, floating creatures raised for their milk and wool. Kael’s life is peaceful, marked only by early mornings, open skies, and market days. But when his name is drawn in the decree, his ordinary world ends.
Reluctantly, Kael is sent to Elyndra, where he trains alongside hundreds of other chosen Descendants.
To fulfill their mission, the engineers of the Sky Kingdom unveil their greatest creation: the Skybreaker, an especially engineered vessel built not from Aetherstone, but from a fusion of steel, enchanted runes, and wind-crystal engines. Designed to descend safely through the Stormveil and return to the skies, it represents humanity’s last hope — and their greatest gamble.
When the expedition finally begins, Kael and his companions journey through blinding lightning and violent winds, facing storm-born creatures and the ruins of civilizations long forgotten. What they discover below shatters everything they were taught — the floating isles were once part of the same world, torn apart by magic gone astray.
Now Kael must confront a truth buried beneath centuries of silence. The Heart of the Sky can save their world… but restoring it may also destroy the sky itself.
Caught between the collapsing heavens and the rebirth of the world below, a humble farm boy who once guarded beasts must now guard the future of both realms.
In a world built upon clouds and secrets, one descent will decide whether the sky remains… or falls.
