Fates Bound: Calamity(First Book Complete!)

Something stirs in the heartlands of Eldara — entire towns vanish from memory at the hands of a long-forgotten threat, left as hollow, magic-dead husks where nothing lives and nothing can grow. The patient monster hides among the forgotten and the lost, feeding on power and memory to bring about a slow, calculated ruin once more while spreading its influence.

In the aftermath of tragedy, a man awakens with no name, no past, and a gnawing hunger for knowledge and magic. Power awaits him, but giving in means becoming what he fears. Hunted by a knightly order ready to strike him down, can he resist the infernal hunger?

A faerie princess breaks sacred rules (again) in pursuit of a story yet untold — one only she can shape into song. To wield the voice of Creation and speak her tale into being, she must shed the weight of expectations and find her own path by learning the truth behind the stories she so adores in order to make one anew.

A lone dragon tends a shrine built from the remnants of her parents’ power. Haunted by loss and driven by a need for answers and to prove the world wrong about her kind being monsters, she must leave behind the routines of her past and join the world. Her own strength lies dormant, so borrowed power will have to be enough to see it done.

Bound by chance and need, the three set out across a world rich with wonder and danger. One seeks a forgotten past. One, a grand tale. One, a brighter future. But seeking their goals may ignite a long-simmering danger as they interfere with plans long laid — and only time will tell if they can avert a true calamity.

What To Expect
• Multiple distinct perspectives within a single party — switching regularly, but always at chapter breaks(No mid chapter changes)
• Developed magic system explored from three outsider viewpoints with unique methods(Spelltheft, Physical perfection, and Words of Power).
• A slow burn introduction into a world unfamiliar even to the characters as they learn about one another and the nature of the world they live in.
• Ample content — Three books fully written out of a planned seven. This isn't a forever-story, but it is set for a long haul.
• Regular releases of side content relating to every character seen in the story — a living world.
• A spunky fairy obssessed with stories.
• A lone dragon out to prove her worth (By beating stuff up)
• A guy who lost his memories and kinda wants to eat his friends.
• Seriously, the fairy is kind of a problem

Some additional information, for those interested.

This isn't intended to be purely serial fiction. I have a set end point written, and a total of 7 books to get there. As it stands, 3 of seven books are fully complete — each at least 200k words, with nearly 200k words in associated side content for people who want more stories and characters from the setting. Which, for context, I began writing this in August of 2024 and it is currently June of 2025. I'm not dropping this anytime soon barring life circumstances changing that will prevent me from typing either with my hands or spoken word.

There are no major characters introduced throughout the story who don't have at least a short story written about them outside of this story, if that's the sort of thing you're interested in.

Posting will be done at a rate of 1 chapter a week on Wednesdays.
Mondays and Fridays are devoted to the sister novel to Calamity: Fates Severed: Vigil until that book releases in full, at which point the spotlight will flip back to Calamity and alternate like that moving forward.

Otherwise, I just hope people like it. This project has been the high point of the vast majority of my life and enormously enriching.
