PerSpective Goggles. They wrap around your head. They’re cool.
The great regulator known as Minerva Beta II has been offline for almost five decades now. The Crisis has been over for almost two. When Minerva went down, the minds of every living creature in the vicinity of its influence fell with it. When it was turned back on, the fabric of reality itself was punched full of holes. The collective dreams and nightmares of society bled through the astral and manifested into the world. Most manifestations have been contained. Most of the holes, repaired. The Ministry of Integrity ensures new breaches are swiftly patched. But their control of the situation is more tenuous than they realize.
Ryan really wanted a pair of the most advanced Augmented Reality goggles available, and when the essay writing contest came along that promised just that he wrote his heart out to win it. The results were inconclusive. Vague rumors about the PerSpectives being banned by the Ministry of Integrity began floating around, but no one really knew why. So, Ryan was truly surprised when he found a package at his doorstep the next day containing his dream device.
It seemed cool at first, another layer of reality to gamify his otherwise droll existence, and give him a chance to get out of the poverty district he was trapped in. Maybe give him a chance to help his mom out with finances. How was he to know that the corporation behind their inception had another path in mind; one that would lead him to learn about lucid dreaming and astral travel that might just cause the entire fabric of reality to unravel?
Well, perhaps the signs were there from the beginning.
What to expect:
Slow burn
Gamification elements that evolve over time
Despondent future
Dungeon breaks
Nightmare Entities
Astral Projection
